Whiskey tango foxtrot to these mixed reviews!

I actually don't understand.
Skimming over the reviews it seems a lot of people felt it "wasn't egoraptor-ish enough" but the reality is that it's a great homage (two m's? w/e) you have the little zoom in effect with the high detail, the quick plot and the flashing background. frankly i think this is a strong representation of egoraptor's stuff, in particular, you nailed the repetitive lines and the relatively weak comedic sense ;)
maybe a lot of folks just don't know speed racer, or don't care enough to find it funny. surely it doesn't have the same fan base as MGS or even RE:4. if you apply the "awesome" style to any thing that isn't wicked popular at the time, you're going to get a weaker response. anyway, enough droning on,
as far as i'm concerned, you're easily in to a 4 vote. the graphics were worthwhile, at times, and the voices were a strong representation of the characters from the show.
as an aside, fuck some negative reviews, as of this writing you have a 4.36!

Great contribution!

A little similar to that old "end of the world" flash with the "wtf mate" auzzies, but that aside, assuming you did in fact write and perform the song yourself, fantastic work!
especially for a first flash. it's a shining example to hold in comparison to people who ask for good votes on their poorly animated stick fights.
I also notice a review mentioning a sequel, which begs the question, wtf would it be about? you just saw the world get blown up in this one!
enough about that though, great job here. I hope you put out some more flashes like this in the future.
just out of curiosity, how long did it take you to make? being your first flash and all.

a disappointment

if you're going to label something as "awesome" material, it needs to be at least a little awesome and, more importantly, it needs to resemble the awesome-style. this is neither of these things. it has no pace, poor voice acting (just because you point it out in the comments doesn't make it ok), and in 30 seconds i hadn't laughed, smiled, giggled, or thought anything positive, where as most "awesome-movies" cover entire games in the same time frame.
review your source material (the real awesome series) and only then would i encourage you to try again. or, because the awesome series is out of style and closing on death, i'd advise making up some original stuff. but of course, you decide how to spend your time.
sorry to bash your flick, your humour just needs some work is all.

I was nervous.

For most of the flash i was thinking: this is not really along the same style as the rest of the awesome series. and in reality, it still isn't even after that ending. your use of the word 'fuck', particularly with the cop at the end, was reminiscent of egoraptor's style, so maybe it wasn't all as far off as i thought. The pace was definitely slower. That said, it's still very, very funny, so good job with that. The graphics were on par with the whole 'awesome' idea, so not complaints there, they do the job every time. What really sold me was the ending, i suppose, so i'm buying in to the "random stuff = 4+ score" ideology, but anyone who says different can eat my ass. At the same time, i really don't think this movie is a 4.24 (as of this writing) so i hope the score comes down just a little. that isn't an attack on you, the artist/author, but simply consideration for some of the other high scoring games and movies out there. i mean, can i really say this is "better" than Sonny or the Last Stand series?
enough banter, hilarious, great punch line, and overall good job.

really impressive!

I kind of hate to say it, but this has, in my opinion, well surpassed the original tankmen series.
i found the script more intelligent and far funnier (i never well and truly laughed out loud at the original tankmen, but this!), while the animation seemed to be on par if not slightly above the old ones. really stalwart work, i have to say. your voice acting was very well done as well, and the use of actual ACTION SCENES in this war themed series was a welcome addition.
the script was the true gem though, sexual harassment in the workplace = hilarity.

fairly effective

i liked your representations, particularly in such a small time, kind of reminds me of the awesome series, only about something intelligent, and without the humour.
speaking of which, if you through in some kickass voice acting and comedy, you'd definitely receive a five, as it stands, i squeezed it up to a four anyway, just because i like your presentation and the inferno to begin with. the music definitely was fiting, given the pace of the action. also, i was impressed by the length of the movie in comparison with the filesize. good job.

JayHankEdLyon responds:

Thanks for the insight. The basic reason for the lack of VA or funnies are that voices would interfere with the music, and thus the style, and it's hard to be comedic without words.

Still, I'm glad you brought it up.

pretty jokes

could the blonde guy look a little more scene while he's doing it though? because that would just top it off, really. the belt, the girls jeans, the lip ring, platinum blonde hair, oh, it's priceless.
beyond that, i mean, it wasn't terrible, but again, it is a video submission and that's not really what newgrounds' flash portal is all about. i think the highlight, for me, was the random passerby lady who looked at the actors like they must simply be insane. enjoy a 2.

interesting and all

some of your text takes the frustration beyond the cuteness of the movie.
that is to say he seems too angry about it.
anyway, it was pretty decent, and i liked the music a lot. you should probably put the title and artist in the music credits, or at least in your author comments section, because i'm sure quite a few people won't wait till the credits.
anyway, good effort here, you grab a three from me.

what a finale!

oh wow...
the laugh out loudness that i put out at the end was epic.
beyond that, i felt like you were too concerned about the plot in this one as compared to the last.
nonetheless, it was still really good. the jesus/god scene was particularly noteworthy.
one thing that i would suggest would be a scene selection menu, because this one is longer and, though i admit it grudgingly, a little slower, it would help to skip to some of the parts where you don't get to appreciate all the comedy.

quality work.

i loved that you squeezed in the "hahahahahha... shut up." at the end as well.
obviously the writing was great, the voices were fantastic as well. your in credits work was swell as well, the cosby impression was well executed. take my 5.
